Margarida Cristo

Assistant Teacher at the University of Algarve and researcher in the Centre for Marine Sciences. PhD in Communities Ecology, in 2001. During her academic and scientific career she dedicated to the study of crustaceans: first she studied decapod crustaceans, in Mozambique from 1978 to 1984, then in the University of Lisbon and since 1992 in the University of the Algarve, she finished her PhD studying the crayfish Nephrops norvegicus. Since 1996 she decided to dedicate part of her research time to crustaceans from Mediterranean temporary ponds, the Big Brachiopoda.
Currently this is her main research field and she has published several works about it.
In the project LIFE Charcos she was responsible for the study of Big Brachiopoda.
